New Friend

Does anyone else agree that the um.... the more mature (0lder) you get the harder it can be to make new friends? I sometimes feel that way and I don't know if it's because we become more reserved and cautious with who we let into our worlds. Or we kind of want to be cool and not make a total fool of ourselves. But, at the same time, I want to say "who cares"! I am supposed to be more mature and confident and all that, so why not just have fun and meet knew people and learn something new.

Well, that's what happened a few weeks ago when N introduced me to a new friend, Beatrice. I was really excited because I had seen Beatrice before just not met her up close and personal. She's from Texas and had just moved to town. We didn't have a lot in common right from the start (other than we both liked being crafty) and we didn't really "talk" a lot in the beginning. Slowly we started to hang out more and I discovered that she had some amazing talents. The main talent being sewing. I had been wanting to learn for so long. I had asked my mom a gazillion times, but we just never got around to it. (needless to say, since Beatrice has been around my mom has made time to teach me. Go figure.)

Beatrice has shown me a few things since we met, which has been great. We both agreed that it would be good for me to take a class, and she was kind enough to join me at a class I took this past Saturday together. I learned the sewing basics about seams, seam allowances, and buttonholes. I even made a cute bag (picture to come). Beatrice has been awesome the whole time and really patient with me. I'm so glad N introduced us. I am really enjoying this new friendship and look forward to learning more about Beatrice.
