Back to School

The title says it all. I start classes again today. I don't know if I'm quite ready yet. This summer feels like it's been so busy and full of things that I want just a bit more time to be lazy. While the calendar may be saying it's getting close to Fall, the weather in my part of the world does not. It's in the 90's today. It makes you want to just stay home in the nice cool air conditioning with a nice cold iced tea. I'm actually looking forward to cooler weather. I never thought I'd say that. I am one of those summer loving people who hates the thought of having to pile on tons of clothes just to go outside. Not my idea of fun. However, I think I'm o.k. with some cooler weather right about now. Nothing major I mean. Something in the 70's. . heck even the 80's would be nice. I think the knitting is changing me into a cool weather fan. Eh, probably not. But honestly it's hot today. I'd much rather stay home than go to class.

But enough of my weather rant. What have I been knitting you ask? Well, let me start with one of my favorites (and probably the only one for today. more blog fodder. .you understand).

I give you the Baby Berry Hat

I love this hat! It was so quick and easy to make. I can see now why so many knitters love baby knits. (um, I think I've said that before) I think the toughest part was finding a yarn for the project. I trolled Ravelry trying to find advice and options on baby friendly yarns. There are lots of opinions! I finally just went to my LYS and settled on Mission Falls 1824 wool. It has a nice squishy feel and is machine washable.

I gave it to my friend at her baby shower and she liked it nicely, but her husband REALLY liked it. Now, he wants me to knit him a hat. So what did I do....I bought her bamboo needles and some yarn to learn! Actually, she mentioned that she's been wanting to learn, so I figured I'd help her along. I plan on knitting him a hat soon once my yarn arrives. I bought yarn from Beaverslide Dry Goods after reading Brooklyntweed's post about his new shipment of yarn from them. It should be arriving soon and I can't wait!

I better end it hear. I need to get myself ready for class. Have a good rest of the week!
